It all began when Henry Gundill sent his son Harry and daughter-in-law Anna to France to expand the Pontefract Liquorice Factory. When they arrived in Rouen in 1919, they found an available factory in the nearby village of Darnétal — and that’s where the legend began!
Recently, Roland had the idea of reuniting all their descendants and cousins to celebrate the family's roots and enduring connection.
This gathering is a tribute to his vision.

Free time !

Either visit Rouen & The old Liquorice Factory or enjoy the local treasures of Fécamp.

With a bit of free time on your hands, why not take a stroll to the old liquorice factory remains in Darnétal (only the exterior is visible), then spend the rest of the day enjoying the beauty of Rouen. Wander down Rue du Gros-Horloge, admire the stunning Cathedral, explore the Jeanne d'Arc Memorial, and soak up the lively atmosphere at Place du Vieux-Marché — home to La Couronne, the oldest restaurant in France.

Prefer to stay local? Fécamp has plenty to offer too. Enjoy a peaceful walk along the harbor, visit the Fisheries Museum to dive into the town’s maritime heritage, and wander through the charming streets of the old town. Don’t miss the cliffs of Cap Fagnet for breathtaking views over the sea — the perfect spot to pause and take it all in. Visit this website for more ideas :
